Not only the city itself is a true magnet for tourists. Within 100 km from Krakow, many world famous attractions are located.
Just outside the city, you’ll find Wieliczka and its’ unique salt mine. Bring your family and friends there just to walk through the magnificent corridors, to take advantage of the underground rehabilitation and treatment centre with its’ exceptional microclimate or celebrate the wedding ceremony and/or reception in the fabulous chambers 135 m below the ground.
It only takes an hour’s drive from Krakow to get to one of the most terrifying memorials of contemporary world history. The museum established at the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp covers an area of almost 200 hectares and is a shocking illustration of Nazi philosophy. Many tourists, even if coming to Krakow for wedding purposes, feel that going to Auschwitz and learning this unbelievable lesson of history is something they wouldn’t like to miss.
A 100 km away from Krakow, at the Slovakian border, you’ll find the Tatra Mountains with Poland’s highest peak Rysy (2499 m above sea level) and the winter capital Zakopane. Discover the fascinating culture of the local highlanders’ community with all the specialties it has to it – their food, their music, their dialect and their art. Stroll through the colourful pedestrian zone (Krupówki) and ride the railway to the top of Gubałówka to enjoy a view on the mountains and Zakopane itself. In winter, enjoy a sleigh ride through the forest or watch the FIS Ski Jumping Championship live in January.
